Today in the Republic of Moldova is commemorated the largest wave of deportations and also today in our country are commemorated the victims of stalinism.

Many families in the Republic of Moldova carry from generation to generation the memory of this tragic period in our history, including diplomats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.

The head of Moldovan diplomacy, Aureliu Ciocoi, pointed out that keeping alive the memory and studying the destiny of our ancestors is a common responsibility and a value of freedom and humanity.

The interim Prime Minister also underlined that these tragic events in the history of the people must be included in the curricula, so that history remains alive and has no chance to repeat itself.

On the website www.deportari.md, there are many testimonies, authentic, from the first source, recorded audio, video or in written form, collected with the joint efforts of all those passionate about knowing their past and transmitting to the growing generations the cultural heritage, part of which is the collective memory.

The cartoon Țigănești-Kurgan-Țigănești was created by the children participating in the Summer School Țigăneștiul nostru - 2nd edition (2019), during the animation workshop.

According to the National Museum of History of Moldova, this project, led by Ghenadie Popescu, was the most demanding and the most original of the summer school. The script of the animation was based on the testimony of Vasile Vieru from the village of Țigănești, a survivor of the deportations to Siberia.
