13 July 2026, Chișinău – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes today’s decision by the European Union Foreign Affairs Council to approve a €120 million assistance package for the Republic of Moldova under the European Peace Facility (EPF).
This assistance will make a significant medium-term contribution to strengthening the National Army’s air defence capabilities, thereby enhancing the security of Moldova’s airspace and the safety of its citizens.
Examples of the practical use of equipment delivered through the EPF include the disposal of unexploded ordnance dating back to the Second World War, the provision of drinking water to communities affected by pollution of the Dniester River, and support in mitigating the consequences of the floods that affected the Republic of Moldova in the spring of 2026.
The Republic of Moldova remains the second-largest beneficiary, after Ukraine, of European Union assistance provided through the European Peace Facility. With this latest measure, total EU support to the Republic of Moldova under the EPF has reached €317 million since 2021.
