29 January 2026, Chișinău - The State Secretaries of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Valeriu Mija and Carolina Perebinos, held a meeting today with the European Union Representative for the Transnistrian settlement negotiations, Audronė Pėrauskienė, Deputy Head of the Eastern Europe and Central Asia Division at the European External Action Service.
The EU official’s visit to Chișinău, her first in this new capacity, provided an opportunity for an in-depth exchange of views on recent developments in the Transnistrian settlement process, prospects for the country’s reintegration, and regional security. The discussions also addressed internal challenges facing the Republic of Moldova, including the impact of economic and energy crises on the Transnistrian region.
A central topic of the meeting was the agenda of dialogue between Chișinău and Tiraspol. The parties emphasized the importance of closely coordinating Moldova’s European integration process with reintegration efforts, through advancing reforms, strengthening state resilience, and enhancing the attractiveness of the constitutional space for citizens on the left bank of the Dniester.
The State Secretaries expressed the Moldovan authorities’ appreciation for the EU’s continued support for the country’s European path, the promotion of democratic reforms, and the reinforcement of reintegration efforts.
