13 May 2019, Brussels – The Republic of Moldova considers that in the reflection process on the future of the Eastern partnership (EaP), the associated partners and the European Union need to develop a common view regarding the future of the cooperation, based upon aspirations, ambitions and existent needs. Statement was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi, at the ministerial assembly of the Eastern partnership, organised on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the launch of the EaP.
Minister Tudor Ulianovschi has pointed out that the reforms carried out in the past 10 years has made the eastern neighbours stronger and more prepared for the future, but for continous progress, a new level of cooperation between EU and partner states is needed, especially the development of the dialogue between the three partners associated with the EU on topics of common interest.
In this context, the head of the Moldovan diplomacy advocated for increased attention to cooperation in the sphere of security, implementation of projects in the areas of energy and transport connectivity, support the development of the services sector, as well as promotion of good governance.
Summing up the discussions held during the ministerial meeting, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, issued a statement, in which it is mentioned that "our achievements, such as increased trade, consolidated political association, economic integration and sectoral cooperation between EU and the concerned partner countries will serve as an inspiration for ceaseless progress in the future, based on mutual interests, needs, shared priorities and a sustainable implementation of the reforms. We should continue to make structural reflections and engage in a wide-ranging consultation process, including the reflection on our future cooperation agenda, in particular to ensure the timely substantial preparations for the next EaP Summit. We need to prove our joint willingness to develop the Partnership’s agenda after 2020, thereby ensuring that together we will stay stronger".
