Ambassador Oxana Domenti presented the letters of credence to the UN Office at Geneva

20th of November, Geneva – The new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Moldova to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Oxana Domenti presented the letters of credence to the Director-General of the UNOG, Michael Møller.

Following the official ceremony, the two officials exchanged views on the prospects of the cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the UN.

Ambassador Oxana Domenti informed the Director General about the implementation of the “UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” in the Republic of Moldova, in particular about the recent adoption of the National Development Strategy "Moldova 2030", also expressing gratitude for the involvement of the UN institutions in the preparation of this document and for the continuous support received throughout the years.

Director-General Møller informed about the priorities he will promote as the head of the UN Office in Geneva: the implementation of the "UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development", the project aimed at informing the general public about the results of the UN activities, the Strategic Heritage Plan and the priorities of promoting gender equality.

The two officials have agreed to continue the partnership aimed at promoting the Sustainable Development Goals, utilising in this regard the UN SDG Lab in Geneva.

Ambassador Oxana Domenti spoke about the priorities of the Government of the Republic of Moldova, drawn up in accordance with the Association Agreement with the European Union. Likewise, it was highlighted the importance of an active participation of the Republic of Moldova in the UN structures, evoking the candidacy of the Republic of Moldova for membership in the UN Human Rights Council in 2020-2022. In the context it was mentioned  the voluntary contribution of the Republic of Moldova for the UN Strategic Heritage Plan, made in 2017 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Republic of Moldova’s membership in the UN.

Michael Møller addressed his congratulations to the ambassador Oxana Domenti and wished Her Excellency utmost success during her mandate.
