Tudor Ulianovschi: "Opening of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Ireland is a long-awaited step by the Moldovan citizens residing on Irish territory”

20 November 2018, Chișinău – Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi and Ambassador of Ireland in the Republic of Moldova, with residence in Bucharest, Derek Feely, in a meeting at the MFAEI, have welcomed the decisions of the Governments from Chişinău and Dublin to intensify bilateral relations through the establishment of diplomatic representations in both capitals.

According to the officials, the opening of the diplomatic representations will not only strengthen the political dialogue, trade and economic relations, as well as cooperation in cultural and other areas, but will also create direct contacts with the diaspora and offer solutions to consular issues encountered by our citizens. During the discussion, it was agreed that the diplomatic and logistical procedures for the opening of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Dublin at the beginning of the next year will start as soon as possible.

We want to be closer to our citizens from the diaspora, by offering high-quality consular assistance and an active involvement of the members of diaspora in projects aimed at promoting the image of our country in Ireland”, stated Minister Tudor Ulianovschi.

In this context, Ambassador Feely has underlined the importance of intensifying bilateral contacts in various areas, while the official opening of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Dublin and of the Honorary Consulate of Ireland in Chişinău represent an important element in achieving the common objective of fully exploiting the potential of Moldovan-Irish cooperation.

The Head of Moldovan diplomacy has highly appreciated the constant contribution of the Republic of Ireland to the development of our country, through projects of social and humanitarian assistance. Minister Tudor Ulianovschi has underlined that opening of the Honorary Consulate of Ireland in Chişinău will fortify the support that our country enjoys from the Irish people and will contribute to diversifying bilateral cooperation by facilitating contacts between representatives of the business community, attracting investments and familiarizing Irish entrepreneurs with the economic potential of the Republic of Moldova.
