State Secretary Tatiana Molcean participated at the session of the Organization of American States General Assembly
June 6, Washington – The Government of the Republic of Moldova pays special attention to the development of relations with the Organization of American States, which represents an important regional cooperation forum in the Western hemisphere and whose principles and values are fully shared by our country. The statement was made by State Secretary, Tatiana Molcean, during the 48th regular session of the OAS General Assembly that took place in Washington D.C., USA.

During the discussion between the permanent observers, Secretary General and the heads of national delegations of the OAS member states, Tatiana Molcean mentioned the fact that the OAS reunions represent a unique platform for developing the bilateral relations with the 35 states from the Americas, in the context of the existing potential exchange of experience and cooperation that can be capitalized in the fields of: science and informational technologies, education and e-governance, ensuring gender equality, promoting trade, etc. In context, the State Secretary highlighted the intention of the Republic of Moldova to extend its diplomatic presence in South America.

The General Assembly is the supreme organ of the Organization of American States that brings together yearly the national delegations of the member states led by foreign ministers or their representatives. The OAS, which celebrates, in 2018, the 70th anniversary since its founding, has provided permanent observer status to 71 countries over the world and the EU. The Republic of Moldova became an OAS permanent observer on December 1, 2016.
