Marija Pejčinović Burić: "Croatia firmly supports the European integration of the Republic of Moldova and will plead for the enlargement of the European Union"

May 18th, Elsinore, Denmark - Croatia firmly supports the European integration process of the Republic of Moldova and will advocate for the enlargement of the European Union. The statement was made by Deputy Prime Minister Marija Pejčinović Burić, the President-in-Office of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, during a meeting with the Head of the Moldovan diplomacy Tudor Ulianovschi.

The two officials exchanged views on bilateral cooperation, particularly on the platform of the Intergovernmental Commission for European Integration between the Republic of Moldova and Croatia, to be held in Chişinău in July 2018, as well as the priorities of the future presidency of the Council of the European Union (in the period January-June 2020).

The Head of the Moldovan diplomacy expressed the interest in boosting bilateral political dialogue and in organizing visits both at high level, as well as at the level of ministries of foreign affairs.

In turn, the Croatian counterpart highlighted the advanced character of Moldovan-Croat relations, reiterating the commitment and determination to deepen bilateral relations and share European integration expertise.

In the context of discussions on the priorities of the Croatian Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, the level of bilateral partnership was appreciated and underlined the need to overcome the current crisis of the Organization.
