The protection of the interests of the Moldovan community in Cyprus was discussed by Minister Tudor Ulianovschi with his counterpart from Nicosia

May 18th, Elsinore, Denmark - In order to promote and protect the interests of the Moldovan community in the Republic of Cyprus, which counts several thousand descendants from the Republic of Moldova, the foreign ministers of the two states, Tudor Ulianovschi and Nikos Christodoulides, agreed to intensify bilateral cooperation, especially on the consular dimension, but also other areas of mutual interest. The meeting of the two officials took place at the Session of the Council of Ministers of Europe Council in Denmark.

During the talks, Ministers Tudor Ulianovschi and Nikos Christodoulides exchanged views on cooperation in the framework of the international organizations and expressed their interest in promoting an agenda of actions to develop new perspectives for deepening bilateral cooperation, being mentioned the organization of the visit to the Republic of Moldova, during the current year, of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nicos Anastasiades.

In this context, Nikos Christodoulides emphasized the importance of boosting bilateral cooperation in the fields of economic and digital diplomacy and the need to strengthen the bilateral legal framework.

In turn, Minister Ulianovschi appreciated the importance and benefits of the experience of Cyprus in promoting reforms and fulfilling the criteria for joining the European Union, as well as the willingness of the Government from Nicosia to support our country’s efforts in advancing in the implementation of internal reforms and in the dialogue with the European structures.
