Moldovan – Canadian relationships discussed in Chişinău

April 26th, Chişinău - The Moldovan-Canadian bilateral cooperation discussions headed by the State Secretary Mrs. Tatiana Molcean and Mr. Kevin Rex, Director for Eastern Europe and Eurasia of the Canadian MFA took place in Chişinău.

During the meeting, the sides have discussed the regional security aspects and the strengthening of the bilateral cooperation between the two countries within different international forums, including, throughout the assistance programs delivered by the Canadian Government to the Eastern Europe. Additionally, the interlocutors have touched upon the subject of upgrading the political Moldovan-Canadian dialogue for future, the legal framework broadening in various areas, as well as the trade relationships between the two states.

In the context, Tatiana Molcean has underscored the importance of the development the Moldovan-Canadian cultural and humanitarian cooperation, taking into account the presence of a large Moldovan community on the Canadian territory and the need to conclude an agreement on social security protection of its members.

Also, the MFAEI’s representative has pledged for the continuation of common efforts towards exploring the existent potential in the commercial exchanges between Canada and the Republic of Moldova by highlighting the importance to finalize in the near future the proceedings for signing of the bilateral agreement on mutual investments’ protection (FIPA).

Director Kevin Rex has mentioned that he will support the suggestions regarding the deepening the bilateral political dialogue and will offer his personal assistance to facilitate the mutually beneficial cooperation among the two countries, reiterating the Canadian MFA’s availability to host the next ministerial political consultations’ round in May, this year in Ottawa.
