Minister Andrei Galbur reiterated the demand for the complete withdrawal of Russian troops in his speech at the meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Vienna
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration gave, today, a speech at the 24th reunion of OSCE Ministerial Council which takes places in Vienna on 7 and 8 December 2017.

In his statement, the head of Moldovan diplomacy addressed the top issues on the OSCE agenda, highlighting the importance of the comprehensive security approach, the need to revitalize the control of conventional arms in Europe, and the need to honour international commitments undertaken by participating states, measures that underpin capabilities and the organization's efforts to prevent and manage crises in the region, including the Ukrainian conflict, given its impact on the regional security environment.

Referring to the Transnistrian conflict, the Moldovan official reconfirmed the importance of resuming the negotiation process in the "5+2" format through the meeting in Vienna on 27-28 November. He expressed his gratitude to the Austrian Chairmanship in the OSCE for its valuable contribution in this respect. The Moldovan official has stressed out the determination of the Moldovan authorities to make further efforts aimed at finding a comprehensive and sustainable solution, by granting special status to the Transnistrian region, based on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova within its internationally recognized borders.

Above all, Minister Galbur said “the Republic of Moldova remains deeply concerned about the continuing illegal presence of foreign military troops on its territory. We firmly reiterate our demand for the complete withdrawal of Russian military forces from Moldova in line with international commitments and provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova.”

A particular attention the Minister paid to the need initiating pertinent discussions aimed at transforming the existing peacekeeping operation intro civil mission under the international mandate.
