Participation of Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Galbur at the informal meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs of EU and EaP

Today, on 8th of September, upon the invitation of his Estonian counterpart Sven Mikser, whose country holds the presidency of the Council of the EU, Deputy Prime minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Andrei Galbur participated at the informal meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of EU, in Gymnich format, and those from Eastern Partnership (EaP).

Foreign ministers had an exchange of views on the perspectives of Eastern Partnership’s development, especially on ways to intensify cooperation with EU in consolidating the resilience of eastern partners and the cooperation on security dimension in the context of the EU Global Strategy.

Using this opportunity, the associated countries pleaded for making more visible the activities undertaken within EaP, focusing on those that can impact on citizens. Among the specific objectives promoted by Moldova, which are also common for Georgia and Ukraine, are the development of mobility programs for citizens, enhancement of connectivity through development of transport and energy infrastructure, implementation of financial instruments that support the business community, harmonization of digital markets and reduction of roaming tariffs.

At the same time, was expressed the importance of a visionary approach towards political perspectives, which for Moldova, as well as for other countries that signed the Association Agreements, starts with the stating of its European integration aspirations, as well as recognition and support for the choice made for the European model of development.
