The 25th anniversary of the establishment of Moldova – Switzerland diplomatic relations

On September 2, 2017, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Swiss Confederation, the foreign ministers of the two countries, Andrei Galbur and Didier Burkhalter, exchanged congratulatory messages.

The head of Moldovan diplomacy highlighted in his message that over the 25 years of diplomatic relations, the Republic of Moldova and the Swiss Confederation have achieved positive dynamics in the development of the Moldovan – Swiss dialogue, both on the bilateral dimension and within the international organizations. At the same time, Minister Andrei Galbur underlined that during this period, the Republic of Moldova has enjoyed political support and substantial development assistance from Switzerland, expressing also gratitude to the Swiss Government: „I would like to express gratitude for your country’s significant aid in implementing structural reforms in Moldova and supporting our efforts to align with European standards, through technical assistance provided in various fields”.

On his torn, the Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, Didier Burkhalter, appreciated the cooperation between our states, based on mutual respect and understanding, that enabled our partnership to steadily grow and flourish. ”I am confident that the fruitful collaboration will continue with the Swiss Cooperation Strategy for the Republic of Moldova 2018 – 2021, which the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation is elaborating at the moment”, the message says. The head of the Swiss diplomacy also assured that Switzerland will remain a faithful partner of the Republic of Moldova and will further assist our country’s reform processes.

Note: The Republic of Moldova has established diplomatic relations with the Swiss Confederation on 2 September 1992.
