Foreign Ministry summons Russian Ambassador Farit Mukhametshin
Today, 26 July 2017, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova, Farit Mukhametshin, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration in connection with the expected events to take place on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the beginning of the peacekeeping operation in the transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova.

In particular, the Ambassador's attention was repeatedly drawn to the inappropriateness of unilaterally organizing of some events dedicated to this anniversary, with the participation of artists and official delegations from the Russian Federation, thus invoking that such actions can harm the Moldovan-Russian relations. In this context, the Moldovan authorities expressed their desire to have friendly, trustworthy and mutual respect relations with the Russian Federation.

In the same context, the numerous callings of the Moldovan authorities have been invoked in connection with the transformation of the current peacekeeping operation on the Nistru river, that has fulfilled its tasks long time ago, into a civilian multinational mission with an international mandate, thus having the firm belief that it will contribute to the confidence building and that it will create a favorable environment for the political settlement process of the transnistrian conflict.
