The celebration of 25 years of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and Japan
On the occasion of the diplomatic anniversary, congratulatory messages were exchanged between the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Andrei Galbur and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Fumio Kishida.
In his congratulatory letter addressed to the Japanese counterpart, Moldovan top diplomat pointed out that “Excellent bilateral dialogue in the past 25 years proved fruitful cooperation both in the bilateral context and within international fora, based on common principles and values, such as democracy, rule of law and market economy”. Moldovan Foreign Minister highlighted that “The people of Moldova appreciate the generous and constant support provided by the Japanese Government to strengthen democratic institutions in our country and the successful implementation of various projects in the fields of agriculture, health, education, economy, science, technology and culture”.
At the same time, an exchange of congratulatory messages on the high-level was conducted between the Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
Establishment of the diplomatic ties with Japan was concluded on 16th of March 1992. On the occasion of the anniversary, the diplomatic missions of both countries are organizing cultural events in Chişinău and Tokyo, thus, the Japanese Embassy to the Republic of Moldova invites the public to the first Japanese film festival to be held on 17th to 18th of March at the “Odeon” cinema.
On the very day of the diplomatic anniversary, Foreign Ministry hosted the official launch of the special obliteration seal “25 years of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and Japan” created by Poşta Moldovei (Moldovan Post Office) with representation of Tighina Fortress and Himeji Castle in Hyogo Prefecture. The seal will be applied on the personalized stamp representing Sakura (Japanese cherry blossom) on the envelope with special drawing that includes several states with which the Republic of Moldova signed agreements on the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992.
