Today, on 27th of November 2007 in Chisinau has started the Conference “Moldova in Europe — Europe in Moldova”. The representatives of the international and european political–diplomatic circles are participating in this Conference. During the discussions the results obtained by our country in the process of the European integration and the perspectives of the EU — Moldova relations are examined.
In the opened speech of the Conference, Mr. Andrei Stratan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, has appreciated the signification of organizing the conference at such level in Chisinau, stressing the willingness of the Moldovan authorities to have the firm determination to advance the existing contractual level to a progressive one, which would allow the Republic of Moldova to accede gradually to the European Family. In this context, it has been stressed that the active efforts undertaken will allow the gradual transformation of the Republic of Moldova into a European modern state with a functioning market economy was expressed.
The Deputy Prime Minister has underlined the importance of the efficient implementation of the reforms in different fields, finding that the Republic of Moldova does not want to multiply the European Union problems, but only at the moment of adequate preparations to accede to the European family, as an indivisible and democratic country.
Appreciating the Moldova — EU Action Plan as the modality of diversification and enhancement of the Moldova — EU relations, the Head of the Moldovan diplomacy has pointed out that the Moldovan and the European authorities are in the final stage of implementation of the Action Plan, looking for new forms of advancement of the bilateral cooperation which would be based on the principle of beneficial reciprocity. The Moldovan side hopes that on the basis of the obtained results it will be possible to start the discussions and consequently the negotiations on a more advanced legal framework between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union. Moreover, the current relations Moldova-EU have raised to a privileged level of cooperation which go beyond the general framework of collaboration. The most important in this sense are the obtained progresses in fields which will be beneficial for all the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. In concrete terms the orator has mentioned the significance of the entrance into force of the visa facilitation agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Community and the possibility to beneficiate from the Asymmetrical Trade Preferences which will create excellent conditions for the enhancement of the bilateral trade between the Republic of Moldova and the EU member states.
Mr. Andrei Stratan has concluded that all these elements create a necessity to reflect on a coherent strategy of cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union, which would allow the continuation of the started so successfully processes two and a half years ago. The Moldovan authorities want a progressive framework, a stable framework and not an ad hoc one, which would be based not only on the enthusiasm of the Moldovan authorities, of the EU institutions and of the EU member states. Moldova opts firmly for the differentiation between the countries according the individual performance and the strategic objectives of each country, and is for the respect of the principle of the joint ownership in all aspects of implementation, as well of monitoring processes.
At the end the Deputy Prime Minister has stressed that the European integration is a primordial objective of the entire Moldovan society, not only of the political class and, certainly, due to this cause it has the strategic and irreversible character.
