The Extended Migration Profile (EMP) Report of the Republic of Moldova has recently been finalized. It is the result of more than two years of intense work of a team of independent experts, Moldovan Government officials as well as IOM, both in Moldova and under the guidance of the Regional Office Vienna and in the HQ, as well as the UN country team partners, notably ILO.
On 22 November 2012 the 5th Mobility Partnership Meeting European Union-Republic of Moldova took place in Brussels and it was co-chaired by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova, Natalia Gherman, and the European Commission DG Home Affairs Director General, Stefano Manservisi.
International Conference "Mobility Partnerships: Past, Present and Future" 27 - 28 June 2012, Brussels
On 27 - 28 June 2012 the International Conference "Mobility Partnerships: Past, Present and Future" followed by a workshop for experts on the same subject was held in Brussels.
The Extended Meeting of the EU-Moldova Mobility Partnership Local Cooperation Platform, which took place on 18th June 2012, brought together representatives of national and international institutions, diplomatic missions of EU Member States and international organizations.
On 28 February 2012 the International Roundtable "The Eastern Partners’ contribution to the Stockholm Programme" took place in Chisinau. The event was attended by Natalia Gherman, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Mr. Stefano Manservisi, Director General DG HOME, European Commission and representatives of national and international organisations, experts and representatives of the civil society from the EU member states and EaP countries.
On the 18 November 2011 the European Commission published the Communication which puts forward a renewed Global Approach to Migration and Mobility.
On 24 November 2011 the fourth High Level Meeting of the Moldova-EU Mobility Partnership (MP) was held in Brussels. The Moldovan delegation was led by Ms. Natalia Gherman, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, and included representatives of the national institutions involved in the implementation of the MP objectives.
An International Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) Policy Seminar “Mainstreaming Migration into Strategic Policy Development” took place during October 12-13, 2011 in Chisinau.
The European Commission adopted a “European Agenda for the Integration of Third-Country Nationals” to enhance the economic, social and cultural benefits of migration in Europe.
In 2010, 20.1 million people living in the EU were citizens from a non-EU country (4% of the total population).
The Local Cooperation Platform Meeting and the second Extended Meeting of the Mobility Partnership took place on 5th of July 2011, in Chisinau.
The Cooperation Platform is responsible for local and operational coordination of the Mobility Partnership (MP) implementation. The aim of the meeting was to offer an opportunity for an evaluation of the achievements of this tool and identify new possibilities for cooperation in the area of migration and asylum.
