Today, September 20, 2007 in Italy, Rome Mr Valeriu Ostalep, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova had a meeting with Mr. Famiano Crucianelli, Sub-Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Italy.
Moldovan Deputy Minister informed his colleague about recent developments regarding the collaboration of our state with EU structures, mentioning in this context the interest of our country to enhance the legal framework regulating the EU — Moldova future relations.
At the same time, the viewpoint of Republic of Moldova over the main guidelines for development of EU — Moldova future relations was communicated, emphasizing the need to establish a proper structure that would allow Moldovan citizens to enjoy free movement of people and goods within the EU.
In his turn, the Italian official mentioned the availability of Italy to support the Republic of Moldova in the process of approaching to the EU. R. Crucianelli underlined that strengthening of bilateral contacts has ensured a constant moldo-italian dialog. A forthcoming visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy will represent an additional occasion to agree upon the ways of assistance offered by Italy to Moldova.
Moldovan diplomat has drawn the attention of his colleague about the existence of an important community of Moldovan people in Italy as well as reiterated the interest of Moldovan authorities to support this community.
Moldovan side expressed its interest for the development of cooperation with Italian partners in the filed of justice and home affairs. The results of the visit in Chisinau of Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Italy were highly appreciated
One of the subjects of discussion was the perspectives of opening of an Italian Embassy in Chişinău.
