Meeting of the Republic of Moldova - European Union Cooperation Subcommittee on “Energy, Transport and Telecommunications, Science and Technology and Education” is being held in Brussels

The Meeting of the Republic of Moldova - European Union Cooperation Subcommittee on “Energy, Transport and Telecommunications, Science and Technology and Education” is being held in Brussels, in the period 25th-27th of June 2008.

 The delegation of the Republic of Moldova is composed of representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Ministry of Economy and Trade, State Administration of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, Audiovisual Coordination Council, Academy of Sciences, Ministry of Transport and Road Management, State Enterprise “Moldovan Railroads”, Ministry of Information Development, National Agency for Energy Regulation, National Center for Health Management and the Ministry of Health.
 
At the sessions of the Subcommittee there are being discussed the recent evolutions in the field of information technologies, particularly - the implementation of the law on electronic communications and the adoption of new regulations on its basis; the realization of the Directive on the Audiovisual and Media Services; international and regional cooperation in environment protection; the implementation of community programs in the field of education, especially Tempus, Erasmus Mundus and the UNESCO Convention on Cultural Diversity.
 
During the following days, the parties will exchange opinions and will examine the intention of the Republic of Moldova to launch the discussions with the European Union with the view of participating in the South-Eastern Europe Transport Community, and the possibility of the integration of the Republic of Moldova into the European Research Area and its accession to the Community Programs in the field of research and development. At the same time, there will be discussed aspects regarding the energy sector and the efforts the Republic of Moldova has made for obtaining full-fledged membership in the Energy Community Treaty for South-Eastern Europe.
 

The sphere of health protection will be analyzed from the perspective of the progresses reached by the Republic of Moldova in the Health Reform, in epidemiological security, in the participation in the Network of Competent Authorities and regarding all the relevant international treaties.
